Think you’ve read this somewhere? of course you have it’s a book by the world-renowned life coach, Robin Sharma. No i haven’t read the book yet cause i’m already reading something but yes i wish to read it real soon. So the reason I’ve named this article the 5 am club is that i’m planning to take up the waking up at 5 am challenge from tomorrow that is the 5th of october 2020. So this is how it goes i will be waking up for 30 days straight tirelessly at 5 am and doing my workouts/yoga or whatever my routine includes with a compulsive 10 minutes each of pranayama and guided or chakra meditation.
Why I’m doing this? From what I’ve observed about myself this past year is that I thoroughly enjoy being up early, one of my fondest memories before the pandemic would be being up by 6-6:30 from the time i had started working, doing my morning drill, and then having time to myself and walking to office sipping on an amazing avocado smoothie or a simple watermelon juice from the local vendor. When i have an organized day i tend to be more productive which i think is true for most people, and having a routine helps me be more focused and less jittery. Also, i hope this helps me be more decisive and more disciplined.
Is this for everyone? I don’t think so, that’s exactly why I call it an experiment, some of us might be better off at 6 am and some at 8 or 9 it all varies from person to person and anything is fine as long as it makes sense to us.
Today’s the night I’m starting it so the closer I’m getting to going to bed the more it’s freaking me out. If any of you’re planning to be up early maybe not to do anything just to have time for yourself and getting up early is an accomplishment in itself. But some of the elements that could help you to be more motivated are
- Do not consume any digital information as soon as you wake up
- Try sipping some hot rejuvenating fluids like lemon/chamomile tea or a cup of just hot water with ginger, lemon, and honey.
- Having a plan/to-do list as to what you want to do after waking up helps a great deal.
- What is the short term goal you want to unlock after being up so early?
- Curating a Long term goal will help you get that extra push!
Hope i own up to this (terrified!). I’ll be writing follow-up posts for this, speaking about how the whole experiment is coming along. So till then stay tuned, stay weird and keep owning it!!
I write this blog purely out of creating a personal habit, experimenting, and, more so cause i love words and hope to get better at them and be consistent in my practice and create some value.
